THE MUSIC
"Music expresses that which cannot be said, and on which it is impossible to be silent" ~ Victor Hugo
A NOTE FROM THE COMPOSER
Music is how I have always understood and interpreted the world around me and how I express my world inside, which I often experience more as a flurry of colours and sensations rather than words. It has always been my language when I had no words.
To be the voice for these clowns and all they represent is therefore particularly poignant for me. I have been writing music and lyrics for 10 years and I can honestly say this is the work I am most proud of to date.
Sometimes humorous, sometimes
heart-wrenching or revealing hidden perspectives, I have attempted to accentuate the complex psychological and emotional realities of Mental Health, helping its causes and collateral impact to resonate while underscoring the multi-faceted scenes in a very visceral yet authentic way.
Exploring and expressing the show’s themes through my personal lens of perfectionism, aching empathy and high functioning social anxiety has been a deeply rewarding experience.
I have an innate desire to leave the world a better place than how I found it and I believe this show, while sometimes intense and confronting, is an overwhelming beacon of hope for the future of Mental Health."
